How I use it

I record my conversations so I stop losing what people tell me.

I built ShadowEars for the way I actually work. I’m in conversations all day — clients, calls, hallway chats — and the part that matters almost never lands right then. It shows up two weeks later, when I’m trying to remember exactly what someone said. I got tired of half-listening because I was busy taking notes, and tired of trusting my memory. So I started recording, and stopped worrying about it.

  1. 01

I hit record and put the laptop down

Every client call, every in-person conversation, every quick sync — with everyone’s consent. No bot joins the call, nothing to set up. I press record and go back to actually being in the room.

  2. 02

    It writes itself down

Each conversation gets transcribed, summarized, and filed on its own. I stopped taking notes. The point was never the transcript — it’s that I don’t lose what was said.

  3. 03

I ask Claude or ChatGPT later

When I need to prep for a client, draft a proposal, or just remember what we decided, I ask Claude or ChatGPT. It opens the recording itself and answers from the real conversation, not my fuzzy memory of it.

The 60-second version

# right after a client call

› “Draft a proposal from what they asked for on today’s call.”

→ Claude or ChatGPT opens today’s call and writes the first draft — scope, deliverables, and the things they said mattered most.

That’s the whole idea. The recording isn’t the point — remembering is. Once every conversation is something Claude or ChatGPT can open, prep and follow-up stop being work I sit down to do and turn into something I just ask for.

You choose what gets recorded

A lot of what I record is sensitive. You decide when to hit record, and everything lives in projects only the people you invite can open.

Record with consent

You choose when to record, and everyone on the call should know. ShadowEars is for capturing conversations you’re part of — openly — not for recording people secretly.
